Little Butt

Wow look how long it has been since we got this Blog going and no contributions. What does that say about Blue Ridge Butterworths.  Busy, busy, busy!!!!

Luke, Elliot, Max and I headed up the Blue Ridge Parkway from Tunnel Road on Sunday the 16th. to head to high elevation for a picnic and hike.  Wow, the ride was just beautiful. The colors are so diversified this year. The variety is astounding.

We picnicked at the overlook by the the Big Butt (yes that's the name of a mountain just southwest of Mt. Mitchell.  It doesn't describe any of us.) trail head.

The hike was the best.  We have to praise the folks that have recently cared for this trial. It was in wonderful shape. The stair work is extraordinary.

The Views were wonderful

Black Dome, Mt. Mitchell, is just out of the frame to the left.

The trail work was very appreciated.  Look at the number of steps here.  There were many, many more along the way and the quality of the trail work was impressive.
Wonders along the way.

What these mountains were like before they
erroded and became covered with trees.

The extravagance of color lead me to do some impressionistic images as we were riding down the mountain.
